• The Founder

My name is Rebecca and I am the founder of EcoTante. I was born and raised in Kenya and I currently live in Germany. There is so much talent in Kenya and I love sharing the work done by the artisans back at home through EcoTante. All the items we sell are handmade in Kenya using locally sourced materials.

EcoTante was started in 2019 in Berlin, Germany. We started by selling sisal baskets and jewellery, and later explored selling clothing. My business is still low scale and I am not a full time employer to my business partners. They are self employed and we work together on a quarterly basis (as projects) when they have low traffic and have more flexibility. We hope that the items you buy will make you happy, you have kept our business running and impacted the lives of Kenyan artisans ❤️

Sustainable fashion handmade in Kenya. EcoTante is a combination of two words: Ecological (we are mindful or our surrounding) and Tante (means Aunt in German).

Our logo features an outline of the Kenyan map, representing its rich heritage and vibrant culture. It is a symbol of skilled craftsmanship rooted in the heart of Kenya. Within the map, there is a pair of hands and heart shape, symbolising our commitment to quality, community, and compassion.

The logo shows our commitment to crafting genuine, eco-friendly items that honor tradition and support local artisans. Welcome to a world where style meets substance, and where every purchase makes a positive impact.
