Nairobi prides itself in being The World’s only Wildlife Capital. It was my first time to experience a safari, and I settled for Nairobi national park due to its convenience. It is situated right on the outskirts of Kenya's capital city and a 40 minutes drive from the city centre: a perfect option for those with limited time but still want to experience a safari.
The park hosts diverse wildlife and plants. The tall acacia trees provide shade and food for giraffes, zebras, and various antelope species. Bird enthusiasts would enjoy watching storks, ostriches and other species.
I was hoping to spot the the Big Five but saw lions and rhinos.
While the park's proximity to the city might lead some to believe that wildlife sightings are scarce, the opposite is true. We saw zebras, impalas, giraffes, jackals, baboons, hippos, crocodiles and more.
A visit to the Nairobi National Park offers not only wildlife encounters but also a chance to learn about Kenya's conservation history. If you have the chance, please visit the Ivory Burning Site Monument, which serves as a reminder of the ongoing battle against poaching.
